Jungle Scout alternative: what to use if you sell on MercadoLibre

Jungle Scout is built for Amazon. If you sell on MercadoLibre, here's what to look for in an alternative and what Ficanaz does (and doesn't do).

Read in Español · Português

If you've looked for Jungle Scout in Spanish, the short answer is yes: Jungle Scout has a Spanish-language site (junglescout.com/es). But language isn't the real issue. The marketplace is.

Jungle Scout is built for selling on Amazon; its own Spanish page sums it up with a tagline about succeeding on Amazon. If you sell on MercadoLibre, the question isn't whether a tool is translated, it's whether it actually looks at MercadoLibre.

In this article we cover what these tools do, why they fall short for MercadoLibre, what to look for in an alternative, and what Ficanaz really does (and doesn't).

What Jungle Scout and Helium 10 are

Both are well-known tools among Amazon sellers. They're used for product and keyword research, tracking competitors and running a business inside Amazon.

  • Jungle Scout describes itself on its site as an Amazon data tool, and its product database is Amazon's. MercadoLibre doesn't appear on its site.
  • Helium 10 (helium10.com) is another widely used suite built for Amazon sellers. It isn't designed for MercadoLibre either.

Pricing and plans for both change often, so we won't repeat them here: if you're interested, check their official sites.

Why they fall short if you sell on MercadoLibre

An Amazon tool shows you Amazon data. Even when the product is the same, the buyer, the competition, the prices and the rules change from one marketplace to another.

MercadoLibre also has its own mechanics that an Amazon tool doesn't account for:

  • Catalog and buy box. In catalog listings, several sellers compete for the same product page and the buyer sees the winning offer first.
  • Seller reputation. It shapes how buyers see you and what you're allowed to do on the platform.
  • MercadoLibre's own promotions and campaigns, with invitations, discounts and rules for each campaign.
  • A separate site per country, each with its own currency, categories and searches.

That's why, for MercadoLibre, the useful question isn't "is there a Jungle Scout in my language?" but "which tool measures on MercadoLibre, in my country?"

What to look for in a MercadoLibre alternative

Before you pick any tool (ours included), check the following:

  • Where does the data come from? Ideally, MercadoLibre's official API. Be wary of numbers nobody can explain how they were measured.
  • Does it separate data from opinion? An AI can suggest useful ideas, but what a model says isn't a measurement. The tool should show you which is which.
  • Does it work in your country? MercadoLibre operates in several countries and each site is different.
  • Is it useful after you pick a product? Research is just the start. Then you need to list, answer questions, adjust prices and stock, and join promotions.
  • Do you know what you'll pay before you use it? Better if the cost is visible before each action.
  • Does it promise the impossible? For example, "your competitor's exact sales" or "the margin on any product". MercadoLibre doesn't publish how much another seller's product sells, and your margin depends on your costs.

If you sell on Amazon, Jungle Scout or Helium 10 will probably serve you better than Ficanaz: that's what they're built for. Ficanaz doesn't look at Amazon.

What Ficanaz really does

Ficanaz is an AI copilot for selling on MercadoLibre. It works on one principle: the AI proposes, MercadoLibre measures.

Research: ideas from the AI, data measured on MercadoLibre

You type in a product or a niche, pick the country and an approach (Proven demand, Growing now or Not here yet) and tap "✨ Research with AI". You get 8 ideas, each with two separate blocks:

  • Measured on MeLi: catalog products with their reference product, the lowest offer price when MercadoLibre has one (with sellers, minimum and median), whether the term is among the week's searches, what MercadoLibre requires for you to list it (category, required attributes, photos) and, with your account connected, whether you already sell something similar.
  • The AI says: why it could work, audience, differentiators, an estimated purchase cost and the web sources it checked, labeled as an estimate.

Measurement works in 8 countries: Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Brazil, Uruguay, Peru and Venezuela. Anywhere else, or when something can't be measured, the run is marked as AI only.

With Validate my idea you test a product you already have in mind: it's measured on MercadoLibre first, and then the AI gives its opinion on what was measured (Worth it, With changes or Not worth it as is), with the reasons and the risks. You can also ask for "✨ See 8 more ideas", save ideas to Favorites with notes, compare up to 3 side by side and export to PDF or Excel.

Your account: My listings and the Assistant

With your MercadoLibre account connected:

  • My listings shows the status of each listing (sales pace, stock, alerts) and a page with what MercadoLibre knows about it. On request, the AI puts together "What to do with this listing" or "Product ideas and copy improvements".
  • The Assistant is a chat that reads your account live. It can propose changes (prices, stock, listings, promotions, answers to questions, claims), and they're only applied on MercadoLibre once you confirm. Permissions start switched off and it never deletes listings.
  • The Promotions Center lets you manage campaigns in bulk, always with a preview before applying.

Ficanaz Link: your MercadoLibre from Claude or ChatGPT

With the Pro plan (US$9.99 per month; new accounts get 14 days free, no card required) you add Ficanaz Link: you connect Ficanaz to Claude or ChatGPT and ask for the same things you'd ask the Assistant, from the chat you already use, with the same permissions and the same confirmation. The Pro plan also adds 300 credits per month starting with the first payment.

What it costs

The app is free. Only the features that use AI consume credits, and the button shows you the cost before it runs: the usual cost and "up to N credits", which is the most you'll be charged. When you confirm your email you get 300 free credits. If you want more, packs start at 1,000 credits for US$10, and credits don't expire.

What Ficanaz doesn't do

So you can compare honestly:

  • It doesn't work with Amazon or other marketplaces: it's for MercadoLibre.
  • It doesn't give you a score or a calculated margin. Those can't be measured honestly.
  • It doesn't measure how much your competitors sell. It measures the catalog, offer prices when there are any, the week's searches and what MercadoLibre requires to list.
  • It doesn't scrape pages. What's measured comes from the MercadoLibre API; the AI does search the web to form its opinion, and it leaves you the sources.

The bottom line

Jungle Scout exists in Spanish, but it's for Amazon. If you sell on MercadoLibre, look for a tool that measures on MercadoLibre, in your country, that separates data from the AI's opinion, and that keeps helping after you pick a product.

If you want to try that approach, create your free Ficanaz account and use your welcome credits for your first research run or to validate an idea.
